History of Golden
Although it was founded in 1859, it lost many of its people during the Civil War because of the economy and the many people who fought. In 1862, when it was still Golden City, it became the capital of the Colorado Territory. The Lariat Loop Trail
Back in the 1920s, Denver established a system of 24 parks called the Mountain Park System. Then they connected all the parks with a circular road and named it The Lariat Loop Trail. Today the 40-mile loop road still exists—Lookout Mountain, at 7,379 feet.
