The name has evolved with the company.

When the business was founded in 2009, the full name was Affordable Alternative Energy. At the time, alternative energy was still emerging into the mainstream. The name reflected what the company wanted to make more accessible.

Affordable Alternative Energy became AAE Solar, then ARE Solar, initially reflecting Affordable Renewable Energy.

Today, ARE means Advancing Renewable Energy since 2009.

That meaning better reflects how the work has evolved. Advancing renewable energy means continually finding better ways to design and build complete energy systems. Technology moves. The way we engineer around it should move too.

A lot goes into three letters. They carry where we started and where we are still going.
